The Prime Minister of India is constantly holding meetings with other parts of the country. These meetings are benefiting the nation and helping to have good relations with other countries. In this regard, PM Modi recently conducted a bilateral meeting with the President of Tanzania. According to the reports, on Monday, October 9, 2023, Samia Suluhu Hassan, President of Tanzania, met with the Prime Minister during her state visit to India. This bilateral meeting was held at Hyderabad House in Delhi. In this meeting, Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) will be exchanged, keeping several sectors and areas in mind that will be beneficial for both countries.

The President of Tanzania came to India after getting an invitation from President Draupadi Murmu, and she was welcomed on Sunday, October 8, 2023, by Annapurna Devi, the Union Minister of State, at the Delhi airport. In this meeting, the ministers of both countries reviewed many facets of India-Tanzania ties and talked about ways to further deepen the historic and close relationships between both countries. The two leaders have talked about various topics that will be beneficial for both sides. The report states that this bilateral meeting covers numerous areas on their agenda, including development partnerships, people-to-people ties, defense and maritime security, higher education, and trade and investment ties.

Moreover, on Monday, the Tanzanian President was accorded a ceremonial welcome at the forecourt of the Presidential House. Both the leaders, President Draupadi Murmu and PM Modi, warmly welcomed President Samia Suluhu Hassan. During the meeting, the Tanzanian President talked about the excellent relationship between both countries and stated that her visit to India would open up new avenues for the economic and political development of both sides. She further added that her country expects the bilateral ties established by the forefathers of the nations to continue for many years. During her visit, the President of Tanzania also visited the Samadhi of Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat, where she offered wreaths and remembered the late father of the nation.

While addressing the bilateral meeting, Samia Suluhu Hassan states, “I would like to express my appreciation to Tanzania for the wonderful existing relationship between the two countries, which we have been sharing for decades. My expectation from India’s visit is surely that it will open new ways for economic and political development and economic cooperation that will lead to strategic partnerships on both sides.” Earlier on Sunday, S. Jaishankar, External Affairs Minister, conducted a meeting with the President of Tanzania and expressed gratitude towards the Tanzanian President for appreciating the initiative of PM Modi for the inclusion of the African Union as a permanent member of the G20. The reports state that this visit of the Tanzanian President is occurring after a span of over 8 years and will further strengthen and invigorate the “historic and friendly relations” between both countries.

In further addition to this, President Tanzania will participate in an investment and business forum held in Delhi on Tuesday, October 10th. She will get back to her country on Wednesday, October 11, 2023. On Saturday, Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation of Tanzania, January Yusuf Makamba, stated that at the time of the India visit of President Hassan, the two countries will lift up their defense relationship to a comprehensive strategic partnership.
