Solo Travel Guide:

First and foremost you need to do some soul searching. There are some questions the answers to which you must know before you leave for a solo trip. Here are the questions. You don’t need to sit with a pen and paper for this one (although if you could it would be great!). Just answer these in your mind to figure out why you are taking this trip.

  1. What do you want to achieve out of this experience? (relaxation, self-discovery, personal growth, enhanced resilience, freedom, meeting new people, exploring cuisines, exploring cultures and traditions, relieving stress, mindfulness, fun, adventure, or something else) – You could choose more than one experience you would like to have on this trip.
  2. What feelings are you chasing? (Excitement, calmness, empowerment, joy, peace, gratitude, inspiration, introspection, healing, contentment, nostalgia, connection, empathy) – You could choose more than one emotion you would want to experience on this trip.
  3. What activities do I want to perform? (Hiking, Nature Walks, Adventure Sports, Beach Activities, Sightseeing, Local Festivals and Events, Volunteering, Meditation, Reading and Writing, Food Tours, Dining Out, Spa and Wellness, Leisure Activities, Historical and Cultural Tours, Nature and Wildlife Excursions, Photography, Nightlife)  – You could choose more than one activity you would like to indulge in on this trip.
  4. What is your budget? (This will help you narrow down your destination options)

Answering these questions will take you one step closer to planning your trip. Once you know the why the where becomes easy to decode. And once you know the where, planning becomes a piece of cake!

  • Bring out your planner: Every Travel Guide emphasizes the importance of having a planner. It keeps you organized and helps keep a tan on your spending. A planner will prevent you from getting sidetracked and protect you from the anxieties of solo traveling. You can plan your trip by fixing your budget, allocating it to different headers, and then keeping track. Make sure you add the following elements to your planner diary:
  1. Specify your budget: The first thing to add to your planner is the budget you have fixed for this trip. Make sure you don’t allocate every last penny for this trip and keep a reasonable amount in your account for emergencies.
  2. Allocate your Expenses: There are many expenses you incur while on a trip. Accommodation charges, food charges, transport expenses, snacks and beverages expenses, and many more miscellaneous expenses. It is best to allocate your budget to your needs and wants before you go on a trip. Make sure you separate some amount of your budget for unexpected expenses and guilt-free spending.
  3. Build an itinerary: Once your budget is fixed and your destination is set, it is time to plan out your journey, including the route you will be taking and the places that you will visit. Jot down the sites you want to visit and the activities you want to do. If you enjoy detailed planning, you can make a checklist to tick off items every time you complete them.
  • Arrange your travel documents: If you are traveling abroad you will need to carry a passport and most likely a visa too. Make sure you arrange these documents before your trip. Even if you are only planning on traveling domestically, make sure to always carry your identification with you. Also, ensure you have your health or travel insurance details with you at all times. These can help in case of emergencies.
  • Pack wisely: This is a crucial point in our Solo Travel Guide. As it can make or break your solo travel experience. When on a solo trip you should be conscious about packing. While you need to make sure you carry everything you require you also need to ensure that you don’t pack too heavy as it could become your biggest problem. It is always suggested for solo travelers to limit their luggage to one backpack. It can easily store most of your necessities while taking up less space and being easily carryable. If you are confused about the things you should pack, here are a list of things you should consider:
  • Clothing, Shoes, and Sandals
  • Toothbrushes and toothpaste
  • Tissues and wet wipes
  • Paper soap
  • Hand sanitizers
  • Insect Repellent
  • Phone, tablet, and laptop
  • Charges
  • Power bank
  • Airtight Waterproof Ziplock Bags
  • Eyeglasses, contact lenses, and sunglasses
  • Eye mask
  • Noise-cancellation earplugs or earphones
  • Sunscreens
  • Body lotions & moisturizers
  • Hair care essentials
  • Lip Balms
  • Medications and first-aid
  • Umbrellas
  • Raincoats/ Raincovers
  • Identification
  • Credit card

  • Look out for yourself: When traveling alone, the only person you can depend on is yourself. So show up to be aware of your surroundings. Always be conscious of where you are, and what is happening around you. Small steps towards safety can support you big time. Make sure to divide your cash and place it carefully in various spots in your luggage and your clothing. When you check into a hotel make sure you check for any hidden entry doors in your room. It is advised to carry a lock for all doors. Make sure you put these locks on your room doors to avoid any breaking. Do your research to avoid getting. Be aware of the rates and routes to avoid confusion.
  • Last and most important element of a Solo Travel Guide: Don’t forget to enjoy!

Conclusion

Solo traveling is an experience everybody should go through once in their lifetime. It can open your eyes to the truth of the world as well as help you know yourself. It is a great way to push your limits and enjoy yourself. If you are someone who wants to travel solo, fear not refer to our Travel Guide and march forward to live your dream. That was our Safe Solo Travel Guide: Travel Alone & Love It. Have a safe trip!
