It might be a very astonishing thing to know, but it is possible; Artificial Intelligence can now redirect you to a tool that tells you exactly how many years you have got to survive on earth. And guess what, it refurbishes data with 78% of accuracy. Who knew that technology could once rule over human lives, when provided with the correct data? The AI life2vec is a unique chatbot which operates on personal human information such as age, health and education, and determines the correct age at which an individual is fated to die.
Curated by researchers at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), this AI tool uses data behind ChatGPT in forecasting individuals’ lifespans. Most people may not find it interesting to know about their individual lifespans, but some might develop a growing curiosity about their mortality to plan things ahead of time. However, as experts say, that such tools may work on a large number of people, they are only made for entertainment purposes and should not be relied upon completely.
But what came out as a surprising fact was that this AI tool successfully delivered accurate data about people who died within 2020. Alongside, it also revealed issues that contributed to earlier deaths which included factors of being a male person, mental illnesses, health problems, etc.
In a conversation, Sune Lehmann, lead author of the December 2023 study said, “We use the fact that in a certain sense, human lives share a similarity with language. Just like words follow each other in sentences, events follow each other in human lives.” Unlike the comparatively famous ChatGPT which helps one get started with most of their daily chores such as queries related to academics or something to the normal course of life, this new life2vec chatbot helps one with computing the outcomes of their life, by closely examining their past events.
This new addition has quite been an innovation in the field of technology. “This model can predict almost anything” said Lehmann, further adding how this chatbot efficiently calculated human personalities and behaviors to predict their international moves. Only that one needs to provide important events of their life such as history, personality traits, educational qualifications and backgrounds, etc.
Lehmann and his team tested this AI tool on a diverse population of 6 million Danish people, who varied in age and sex, between 2008 and 2020. The team members used life2vec to discover the range of people who could live at least beyond the bar of January 1, 2016, and to their surprise, the outcomes were 75% effective. “We can observe how individual lives evolve in a space of diverse event types (information about a heart attack is mixed with salary increases or information about moving from an urban to a rural area)” said Lehmann.
How fascinating it appears to be when we encounter something that is completely different from what the world could even perceive. Life2vec has been a totally different creation by the researchers of the Technical University of Denmark that provides remarkable outcomes on someone’s life, an aspect on which all of us work relentlessly. Death is something which is inevitable, and to find something that conveys the perfect results on life accuracy is something only technology could have achieved. This AI tool can help one know what factors could help them in improving their standards of living, ultimately leading them to a better way of living. “We haven’t gone deep with this, but that’s another important application of the model” said Lehmann.
It hasn’t been made accessible to the public in general and larger corporations. It is said that the predictions of life2vec won’t be used for any future data collection, but as Lehmann quoted, could be used to determine “what could- and could not be predicted in the future.”
