The unfortunate death of the former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar has brought shockwaves in the political world.  The reports state that the Senior BJP leader, Sushil Modi took his last breath on Monday evening, 13 May 2024 at Delhi’s All-India Institute of Medical Science. The cause of his unfortunate death has been identified as cancer. The 72-year-old politician had been suffering from cancer over the last few months. In April 2024, his health condition got much worse and he was instantly admitted in the intensive care unit (ICU) of AIIMS, however, he ultimately succumbed to cancer on Monday evening despite the efforts of doctors.

As soon as his death surfaced online, the entire social media flooded with condolences and tributes. Several renowned personalities and politicians have paid tribute to the best-known face of the BJP in Bihar and expressed their deep sorrow over the unfortunate news of his sudden passing. It is worth noting that due to his serious health condition, he even dropped his name from the ongoing Lok Sabha elections. He had officially shared this news on social media with a post on X (formerly Twitter) on April 3.

He posted on social media that “I have been battling cancer for the last 6 months. Now I feel the time has come to tell people. I will not be able to do anything in the Lok Sabha elections. I have told everything to the PM. Always grateful and always dedicated to the country, Bihar and the party.”

After learning about the unfortunate demise of a late politician, the running candidate of the ongoing Lok Sabha election, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has penned a heartfelt note on X which reads that “He has played an invaluable role in the rise and success of BJP in Bihar. Strongly opposing the Emergency, he made a name for himself in student politics. He was known as a very hardworking and sociable MLA. He had a deep understanding of the issues related to politics. He also did a lot of commendable work as an administrator. His active role in the passage of GST will always be remembered. My condolences are with his family and supporters in this hour of grief. Om Shanti.”

The official page of BJP Bihar has also tweeted about the passing of the former finance minister of Bihar and paid tribute on X which reads that “The BJP family is deeply saddened by the news of the demise of former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar and former Rajya Sabha MP Shri Sushil Kumar Modi. We have lost a great warrior. This loss can never be compensated. This is an irreparable loss for Bihar and the entire BJP family. Om Peace Peace.”

Paying condolences to the late Senior BJP Member, Home Minister Amit Shah states that the terrible passing of Modi would leave a void in Bihar politics that would not be filled for a long time. The absence of the former Deputy was expected to be felt the most in Bihar, where he had considered an influence on the party, built over thirty years. Over the eleven years between 2005 and 2020, in two stints, he worked as the Deputy of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
