CWC Latest Updates: Congress top-leader Ghulam Nabi Azad denies collusion with BJP, will resign if so

Written by: Rashi Saral

It’s not the first time when there is a strife between the top leaders of India’s oldest political party, Congress. In February 2020, JyotiradityaScindia left the party due to differences with Kamal Nath. Then, recently, there was news regarding the separation of Sachin Pilot, joining hands with the leading party in the nation, BJP.

Now what happens today, let’s check out the latest happening in Congress.

GhulamNabi Azad, amongst one of the eminent 23 Congress leaders, wrote to the party head requesting Sonia Gandhi to revamp the leadership structure. On Monday, he denied all the allegations made by Rahul Gandhi about his collusion with BJP.  The leader said he will step down from his position if in any manner he is helping the BhartiyaJanta Party (BJP) or working in its favor.

Azad’s explanation over the letter oozed out at the meeting of the Congress Working Committee, written by him and other party leaders asking for sweeping reforms in the organization.

Before Azad clarified, Rahul Gandhi put a big question mark on the timing of the letter transcribed by the party’s leaders. The former Congress president said that the letter was sent to the party chief at a time when she was unwell and “the party is fighting the BharatiyaJanata Party (BJP) in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.”

In the letter, former chief-ministers, members of the party’s foremost and highest decision-making body and sitting members of parliament, had suggested improvising changes that include dissolution of powers to state units and redesigning the CWC. However, another group of the same party comes out in the support of the party’s president, Sonia Gandhi.

Sonia Gandhi announced during the meeting that she would not continue as intermin chief even a multitude of leaders still has faith in her leadership.

Reportedly, KapilSibbal has withdrawn his latest tweet where he expressed his contradicting views on the statement shared by Rahul Gandhi.

To hide the story, party spokesperson Randeep Singh Sujerwala denied the statement uttered by Rahul Gandhi. He said, “Sh. Rahul Gandhi hasn’t said a word of this nature nor alluded to it. Please don’t be mislead by false media discourse or misinformation being spread. But yes, we all need to work together in fighting the draconian Modi rule rather than fighting & hurting each other & the Congress.”

Will these continuous conflicts in the party create a big misery for Congress? Post your comments below and subscribe to Business View Magazine for more updates.
