Stree 2 Movie Review:
The sequel to the Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao starred Stree hit the theatres with an early release of thursday on August 15. Stree 2 set a new record within the first day of its release in the theatres. The horror comedy movie is now the highest opener of the year, with a whopping Rs 54.35 crore collection on its first day in India. Stree 2 is the fifth installment of the t in the Maddock Supernatural Universe and is the sequel to Stree (2018). The movie is directed by Amar Kaushik.
Stree 2 box office collection: Over 8 Lakh tickets sold
The horror comedy sold over 8 lakh tickets, according to reports. Stree 2 dominated over Akshay Kumar’s comedy Khel Khel Mein and John Abraham’s actioner Vedaa, the other two movies released on the same day. A day before its official all-India release, Stree 2 opened on Wednesday night for select paid previews from 9.30 PM onwards. This preview recorded a prolific response, setting a new benchmark at the box office.
Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao starrer breaks records
Stree 2 is ruling the box office this weekend. It became the highest opener of the year with a whopping Rs 54.35 crore collection on its first day in India. Stree 2 broke the long-standing paid preview record of Shah Ruk Khan’s Chennai Express, which had earned Rs 6.75 crore nett in 2013. Apart from breaking records with its paid preview, the movie has also surpassed some of the biggest films of all time in terms of its advance booking for day one. The movie surpassed its predecessor and beat the record of many other box office biggies like- ‘Gadar 2’ last year and ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ this year. Stree 2 sold 3,92,000 tickets (excluding paid previews) in the national multiplex chains for day one on August 14, a day before its wide-scale release. The movie surpassed Salman Khan’s Tiger 3, Ranbir Kapoor’s Brahmastra, and Aamir Khan’s Thugs of Hindostan in the advance booking for day one department. Stree 2 stands seventh on the list of movies with the highest advance booking. Stree 2 sold 8,24, 483 advance tickets in single screens and multiplexes
Stree 2 Cast: The OG Chanderi gang creates magic again
The Amar Kaushik-directed movie stars the original gang of Chanderi from the first movie. Shraddha Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao, Aparshakti Khurana, Abhishek Banerjee, and Pankaj Tripathi, reprise their respective roles from the first movie. Rajkummar Rao plays the naive lovestruck ‘Chanderi ka Rakshak’, Vicky. Shraddha Kapoor plays the mysterious but charming girl from out of town. Aparshakti Khurana and Abhishek Banerjee play the ride-or-die goofy buddy to Rao’s character. Pankaj Tripathi plays a paranormal expert of sorts and guide to the gang of friends. The movie boasts of a strong supporting cast including names like, Tamannaah Bhatia as Shama, Atul Srivastava as Vicky’s father, Sunita Rajwar as Jana’s mother, Bhoomi Rajgor as Stree, and Sunil Kumar as Sarkata. Stree 2 also comes with a few surprising cameos.
