Guidelines to be followed by first-time voters at the time of voting

Many individuals are casting their vote for the very first time and are unaware of the protocols that are to be followed at the polling booths. This section provides a step-by-step guide for a hassle-free voting experience for first-time voters.

  1. At first, the voters need to check their eligibility by ensuring that their name is on the voters’ list. This can be checked by visiting the local electoral registration officer or the Election Commission’s website.
  2. Voters need to present a valid ID proof at the polling booth before casting a vote. This could be the voter ID card, Aadhar card, PAN card, Driving Licence, etc.
  3. The voter then needs to find the polling booth assigned to them and get the verification done at the venue. Upon checking the details, the person’s finger will be marked with election ink and a confirmation paper slip will be provided after signing a voter registration register.

Note: Phones or cameras are not allowed inside the polling booth or the center.
