It’s a whopping seven-month stand-by! Moments after Xiaomi announced the prices of its debutant electronic vehicle model SU7 on Thursday, the brand locked all the deals of the car for the year. However, as the brand is witnessing a high rise in the demand for the edition, on Monday Xiaomi’s app advised its would-be customers to wait for seven months till they receive the delivery of the most preferred car.
On Friday night, the brand recorded some 88,898 orders of SU7 within the first 24 hours. While the basic model may take an expected delivery time of 18-21 weeks, the Pro model may take the same time to get delivered, and the highest model of the range would require 27-30 weeks. For the unversed, prices of the new series start at 215,900 Yuans (Rs 25 lakhs approx). In addition to releasing these three standard models, the company has also introduced two special versions of the car titled “Founder’s Edition” as part of its sales strategy. These models are available along with exciting complimentary gifts such as refrigerators, etc.
The car has been put on display at many showrooms in China. Company CEO and co-founder Lei Jun on Sunday, said through a Weibo post that it would resume a second round of sales for the Founder’s Edition, but it didn’t specify the quantity. He further added that while witnessing the order process of Founder’s Edition, the brand encountered some unusual and fake orders, and blocked them beforehand. Astonishing to notice, Xiaomi sold the first batch of 5,000 special editions after Thursday.
Before getting regulatory approval to begin manufacturing in China, Xiaomi had a factory in Beijing that could produce 200,000 cars annually. Earlier in November, state-owned vehicle manufacturer BAIC Group had announced that the Xiaomi cars would be produced from the same unit.
Here’s what customers may find new in the all-new Xiaomi electric SU7
- The car has been introduced in astonishingly nine beautiful colors. While three colors had already been displayed on the edition’s models at the MWC held in Barcelona, the additional six colors were inaugurated later on.
- The new electric vehicle boasts a driving mileage of 700-900 kilometers on a single charge, making every ride an unforgettable experience.
- There are two types of battery models for the electric SU7 series: 73.6 kWh for basic models, and 101 kWh for higher versions.
- There are contemplations to introduce a larger 150 kWh battery from the next year which would provide an increased range of 1,200 kms.
- The SU7 has a fast-charging facility because of its 486V and 871V buildups.
- Its wheelbase is 3,000 mm and has a 19-inch Michelin alloy which can be seen across all models of SU7.
- Charging for just 15 minutes can provide a range of 350 km to 510 km.
- Apple users can enjoy the support of Apple CarPlay and iPad connectivity.
Founder’s Edition
The limited special edition pledges to provide a dual-motor, alongside a four-wheel-drive powertrain. It also can deliver approx 986 bhp of power, claiming to reach 0-100 kmph in only 1.98 seconds.
